Keep Your Winter Warm with Logs Direct

Everything this year so far suggests that we’re going to have a chilly Christmas in 2012 in the UK. With the temperature set to drop this month, especially during the evenings and other hours of darkness, it’s getting more and more important to make sure you’re prepared to face the chill.

Here at Logs Direct, we always like to make sure we stock up with seasoned hardwood logs throughout November and December so that during the hectic time around Christmas and New Year it’s one less thing to worry about. The seasoned wood is really thematic around this time of year because it diffuses such a festive scent throughout the house.

The number of smoke-controlled areas in the UK is rising steadily, so many people have started using smokeless fuels. As well as being environmentally friendly, smokeless fuel burns for longer so it’s more cost effective, and is lighter than traditional fuels. It also produces less ash, which means that any snow which may fall around your house (and there’s a very good chance it will this year – 25% according to forecasters) will be cleaner and safer for the kids to play in (adults too!).

Christmas is the most expensive time of year in the UK with the average person spending more than £400 on Christmas presents. To make sure you can afford to dish out all the gifts you want and still have plenty of fuel for the fire, we have a great selection of cheap firewood. As 90% of people will do at least some of their Christmas shopping online this year, postage and packaging costs are something worth considering when you order large, bulky or heavy presents (though Logs Direct offers free home delivery!).

For super-efficient energy, try kiln dried logs – the process of kiln drying reduces the moisture content in the logs, creating a longer, hotter burn. They are also great for creaky old houses with equipment which needs extra care, because they minimise chimney, stove and flue problems.

Despite spending on presents being so high, more than 1 in 10 gifts are unwanted and the recipient will attempt to get rid of it somehow. Last year, eBay saw a massive Boxing-day boom when more than 1.5 million items went up for sale. If you want to be certain your well-thought-out gift doesn’t become part of those 1.5 million, why not have a look at what Logs Direct has to offer? If you give someone something really important such as logs, we bet you’ll get that warm fuzzy feeling inside – and so will the gift recipient! What could be better than knowing your family or friends are looking out for you? (We know – fire pits! They’re really hot gifts this year!)

At Logs Direct we have a selection of gift vouchers ranging from £10 to £100 so you can be certain that you’re giving exactly the right gift this year, and if you can’t stand to keep thinking about how chilly it is and are looking forward to the summer already, have a look at our barbeques for sale – ideal for whatever sunny daydream you’re having.

If you’d like to get hold of the Logs Direct team, call us on 01524 812 476 and we’ll be more than happy to answer any questions you may have – we’re a family run, Approved Coal Merchant which means we’re industry recognised experts you can trust.
